The ex-commander of the Brest paratroopers turned to the Belarusian military.
On the anniversary of the start of the war, commander of the Brest airborne assault brigade, lieutenant colonel of the Airborne Forces Valer Sakhashchyk, addressed the military of Belarus on the anniversary of the start of the war.
“You and I have come close to a historical denouement, at which we risk losing the country and statehood, or we can fulfill the will and aspirations of our people, to whom we swore an oath,” Sakhashchyk said.
“The path on which Belarus remains a country in which we all Belarusians have a future, regardless of which flag we like best, this path leads us away from aggression, hatred, international crimes, away from international isolation and a return to the stone age of technology. And here the knowledge, honor and responsibility of the soldiers and officers of the Republic of Belarus play a special role.
Now many of you seem to freeze and expect that everything will somehow be decided by itself, that “they will sort it out from above”. However, the guys at the top have already sorted things out so that it will take us a lot of time and effort to disentangle it all. They won’t figure it out without us,” says Sakhashchyk.
He recalled that in the first days after the start of the war, few people bet on Ukraine winning the war, but the Ukrainian people proved the opposite. The Ukrainians not only united and survived, but also have already won a moral and psychological victory over the Russian Federation, and have a strategic initiative.
“I understand everything about Russia. As for my homeland, Belarus, there may be options,” said Sakhashchyk.
In his opinion, now Belarus has only two paths to the future: either to the company of rogue states together with Russia, or to an independent and successful life, to become a country that has a future — together with Ukraine.
“We don’t need to wait for some kind of miracle, we don’t need to hope that someone will do it for us – we will do it ourselves, like the heroic Ukrainian people. Long live Belarus! Glory to Ukraine!” Sakhashchyk finished his address.
