Lukashenka Moves Residence To Emirates?

The dictator's strange behaviour has raised questions even within his own entourage.

Lukashenka has been absent from Belarus since 29 November. During that time he visited the United Arab Emirates, China, Equatorial Guinea and Kenya.

The dictator's visit to the UAE attracted particular attention from experts.

Political scientist Valery Karbalevich told Filin about the strange nature of this trip:

- We should explain why Lukashenka suddenly made two visits from the territory of the Emirates and then returned there. What does that mean? Does he have a new residence there or something like that? In a normal country you explain it to the people, to the nomenclature.

Strange negotiations with the president of the Emirates, in which only members of Lukashenka's family took part, are attracting attention. Were they state negotiations or family negotiations? It is not clear. I think this raises certain questions.

If we are talking about visits, it seems to me that this visit to Africa is spontaneous and unlikely to have any effect, but officials obey. Even from a PR point of view, I don't think these visits have any effect, because for Belarusian society cooperation with Africa is a bit exotic.
