Lithuanians could be detained illegally.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received information about several of its citizens who were detained or placed in detention centers in Belarus. According to the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry, Lithuanians in Belarus could be detained illegally, writes Delfi.lt.
“We now have information about several citizens of the Republic of Lithuania detained or serving sentences in Belarus. Belarusian departments do not always immediately inform about the detention of Lithuanian citizens,” the Foreign Ministry said in response to Delfi.
The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry recalls that this year residents have already been informed three times about “intensive hostile and provocative actions of the Belarusian special services against citizens of the Republic of Lithuania.”
The department recommends not to travel to Belarus, and those who are there are asked to return immediately.
Earlier, Latvia reported the detention of 25 of its citizens in Belarus.
