Two people on a motorcycle broke the window of the minibus in which he was traveling from the airport.

The head of Mongolia's National Olympic Committee, Battushig Batbold, and his wife were robbed while he was visiting France to discuss security for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The Times reports this with reference to the prosecutor's office.

The robbery took place on October 11 near the Stade de France, the stadium which is planned to host next year's Olympic Games.

The prosecutor's office said that two attackers followed a minibus with the head of the NOC of Mongolia and his wife on a motorcycle from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport. The minibus was heading to the hotel and slowed down in a tunnel near the stadium when thieves smashed the rear window and grabbed a bag of jewelry from the back seat. According to AFP, the total value of the jewelry was €570,000, including gold and diamond earrings worth €165,000.

Three young men aged between 22 and 25 were arrested two weeks later in Saint-Denis, a suburb of Paris where the Stade de France is located, but prosecutors have only just revealed this to the media. This group of people is also suspected of stealing valuables worth about €50,000 from tourists from Saudi Arabia in the same way on October 2.

Battushig Batbold is the son of former Prime Minister of Mongolia Sukhbaataryn Batbold.
