She also called on the pontiff to avoid inaccuracies and ambiguities.

Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen during a personal audience on November 13 called on Pope Francis to support Belarusian political prisoners. She spoke about this on her Facebook.

The politician notes that the main theme of their discussion was “efforts to help the suffering Ukrainian nation and to provide assistance to war refugees from Ukraine”. In particular, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen thanked the pontiff for his efforts to bring peace and prayer, but she emphasized that “peace must be right”.

She also called on the pontiff to avoid inaccuracies and ambiguities, since “Russia can use every inaccurate or ambiguous word to justify its aggression”.

The politician also pointed out the impact the Pope's words have on “nations in the pursuit of freedom and defense of democracy”.

“Today these words and support are very much needed for Ukrainians and political prisoners in Belarus,” Čmilytė-Nielsen said.
