Lithuanian customs announced more thorough checks.
Lithuanian customs warned carriers about another tightening of control on the border with Belarus and Russia.
Lithuanian customs reported that since November it has been tightening controls on transit cargo traveling to third countries through Belarus and Russia. This means a more thorough check of the correct classification of goods exported from Lithuania. The customs statement notes that there are cases of attempts to circumvent sanctions by incorrectly indicating codes and nomenclatures. Therefore, when exporting goods to the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus, customs officers will check the classification, including sampling and laboratory tests.
The Lithuanian department warned that due to increased control, the time frame for customs clearance of export procedures may increase.
