The weapons will be delivered by the end of the year.
Germany is going to supply additional air defence systems for Ukraine to protect the Black Sea and Danube ports and grain routes. In particular, the country is to send the IRIS-T air defence systems.
Bloomberg reports this. It is noted that Germany will also supply more than 12 Gepard anti-aircraft guns to Ukraine. These funds will have to provide protection for cargo travelling along the southern coast of Ukraine towards Romania.
It is known that the weapons are planned to be delivered to Ukraine by the end of this year. At the same time, additional IRIS-T supplies are possible after production.
German lawmaker Marcus Faber, who is a member of the Defence Committee in the Lower House of Parliament, confirmed that Ukraine would also receive additional IRIS-T systems and Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled guns, as well as ammunition for them.
“Ukraine will use those units to better protect its grain ports, for example,” he said.
