Reuters Finds Out Reason For Prigozhin's 'Obsession' With Bakhmut

It's all about personal profiteering.

The Russian authorities and Russian businessman and owner of the Wagner private military company (PMC Liga) Evgeny Prigozhin, who is described as President Vladimir Putin's "cook", want to seize Bakhmut in Donetsk Region for their own profit.

There are indications that Russia and Prigozhin's "obsession" with Bakhmut is driven by monetary motives, Reuters wrote, citing a White House official.

"The United States believes that ... Prigozhin ... is interested in gaining control of salt and plaster from mines located near ... the town of Bakhmut," the official said.

As Charter97.org reported, the Russians are suffering very serious losses in the Bakhmut direction.

In the morning of January 6, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the opponents were advancing in the Bakhmut and Liman directions.

According to the General Staff, the invaders are focusing their main efforts on attempts to establish control over the entire territory of Donetsk Region.
