The military analyst predicted which city would soon be liberated.

Austrian analyst Tom Cooper said that in the next few days, the Armed Forces of Ukraine may de-occupy the city of Lyman, Donetsk region. According to him, Ukrainian forces are already 20 km north and northeast of the village.

He also noted that the position of the Russian army in Liman is dangerous, but the occupiers intend to hold out to the last in order to gain time. Cooper spoke about this in an interview with Suspіlny.

The expert noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are pushing the Russian army away from the Oskil and Seversky Donets rivers. At the same time, he explained that the landscape in this area is complex due to large forests. At the same time, he is confident that Ukrainian servicemen have good prospects for the liberation of the city of Liman from Russian occupiers.

Cooper believes that in Lyman, the Russian occupying army is trying to gain time in order to prevent the Ukrainian military from advancing in other directions of the front.

“Ukrainian forces are already 20 kilometers north and northeast of Lyman and even east of the city. The Russian troops are in a dangerous position there. They're holding on because they're trying to buy time. This is beneficial to Russia. While Ukrainian troops are busy in Lyman, they cannot advance in the west or north of the Luhansk region, which are also important due to the Russian-led quasi-referendum,” said an Austrian analyst.

He also said that now the Armed Forces of Ukraine have chosen the best tactic to date - an attack. Tom Cooper believes that it is very important to keep the Ukrainian forces in combat readiness so that they can continue to push the Russian army to the border.

“If you attack, you choose the position and time to go on the offensive. If you stop, you give the initiative to the enemy, and believe me, every attack, no matter if it is large or not, is still a shock and a surprise to the people who are attacked. Therefore, it is always better to attack than to defend,” the expert summed up.
