The streets in the city were covered with sawdust.
In the morning on August 14, residents of the area near Barysaudreu found a layer of sawdust on the streets, grass and cars. According to mlyn.by, around 7 a.m. there was a breakdown at Barysaudreu, which resulted in covering the nearby streets with sawdust.
According to the deputy director - chief engineer of the enterprise, Pavel Stankevich, a valve in the fiber deposition system malfunctioned.
"Yes, the emergency valve actuated around 7am this morning. It opens when there is an increase in pressure in the cyclone (fibre deposition system). After our examination, it was found that no overpressure had been recorded. Apparently, the fixing failed.
There are two parallel cyclones, each with 8 such valves, which are secured by plastic bolts. After the emergency valve was activated, we acted promptly: we shut down the equipment and fixed the failure. The cyclone is located high up (about 30-35 metres) and the emission that occurred was blown around by the wind," explained the plant's chief engineer.
