They also have serious problems in the south.

Russia conduct ineffective offensives in the Donbas and Kherson sectors. The British Ministry of Defense notes, that the Russian commanders continue to face a dilemma: whether to resource the offensive in the east, or to bolster the defence in the west.

On 18 July 2022, intelligence identified a Russian military vehicle refit and refurbishment facility near Barvinok, in Russia’s Belgorod Oblast, 10km from the Ukrainian border.

At least 300 damaged vehicles were present, including main battle tanks, armoured personnel carriers, and general support trucks.

"In addition to its well documented personnel problems, Russia likely continues to struggle to extract and repair the thousands of combat vehicles which have been damaged in action in Ukraine," the British Intelligence noted.

Adviser to the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration Serhiy Khlan believes that the Ukrainian military will be able to liberate the entire Kherson region by September. The active phase of the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kherson region is either about to begin or is already underway. The 'Zerkalo Nedeli. Ukraina' news publisher writes that experts of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) also came to this conclusion.
