Kadyrov Leaves His Fighters In Chechnya Instead Of Deployment In Ukraine

What goes on in the Chechnya leader's head?
The personnel of the West-Akhmat Battalion will stay in Chechnya. Earlier, Ramzan Kadyrov said that he had formed this 'elite' detachment to be deployed in Ukraine.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported it.
Head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov tried to explain his decision by the fact that allegedly the fighters need to do 'duty for the fatherland'.
"First of all, in these units, servicemen will learn military affairs, train, develop endurance, tighten physical readiness and increase their readiness," he said.
ISW analysts believe that Kadyrov deliberately does not involve the majority of his military force in the war against Ukraine. He is afraid of losing militants, because he understands that then his position inside Russia will be significantly compromised.
