Political Prisoner Yauhen Afnahel Transferred To Prison

Political prisoner, opposition politician, coordinator of European Belarus Yauhen Afnahel is transferred to prison for two years, reports HRC "Viasna".

On April 12, Navapolatsk judge Iryna Zharava decided to transfer the political prisoner, coordinator of European Belarus, Yauhen Afnahel, to a two-year prison regime. The trial was held via video conference from the colony. Yauhen is to be transferred to the prison soon.

The schedule of the Supreme Court indicated that the court was going to consider the case on the transfer of all the defendants in the case, in which Pavel Seviarynets and European Belarus activists had been tried, to the prison regime. However, only Afnahel was transferred to the prison.

We remind that at the beginning of March Afnahel was transferred to the solitary confinement cell, where he spent the last 1.5 months. Also, his monthly purchase of foodstuffs was reduced to 1 basic unit per month. On May 25, 2021 the political prisoner was sentenced to 7 years in the colony with a reinforced regime.
