"Z for Beasts"

The Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations addressed an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.

The letter Z used by Russian troops to mark their military equipment in Ukraine means "beasts" (zveri).

Ukrainian Permanent Representative to the UN MSergey Kislitsa stated this during a meeting of the UN Security Council on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, reports Ukrinform.

Kislitsa recalls that an extermination unit with a crematorium and a gas chamber was built in Sachsenhausen of Nazi Germany, which the SS called "Station Z".

He also stresses that Russia continues to cynically disregard international humanitarian law, its troops blocking numerous attempts by Ukrainian authorities to evacuate civilians with humanitarian corridors and denying access to international organizations to help the cities most affected.

"Even scarier, Russian troops are opening fire on evacuees and vehicles, shelling roads allocated for humanitarian corridors," Kislitsa noted.

During the meeting of the Security Council, the Permanent Representative added, "another horrible example of Russia's neglect of its obligations on humanitarian corridors happened". According to available information, the Russian Federation has derailed the agreements reached on humanitarian corridors for tomorrow.

March 8 is the thirteenth day of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The third round of talks between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations is scheduled for today.
