Ukraine To Hold Military Exercises In Parallel With Belarusian-Russian Drills

The Ukrainian army will work out its actions in case of an attack.

On February 10-20, the Ukrainian army, in parallel with the “Allied Resolve” Belarusian-Russian exercises, will conduct its own exercises in different regions of the country to prepare for possible external aggression. This was announced on February 7 by Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov, Ukrayinska Pravda reports.

According to the Minister, along all the borders of Ukraine from Russia, Belarus and the territories of the Donbas there are 119,000 military men of the ground component of the troops, with an air and sea component being 140,000 military men. These are 72 battalion-tactical groups, 11 of which are located in Belarus. According to Reznikov, this is not yet a “strike grouping” of troops, but Russia can form one, it will take “up to a month”. Therefore, the Ukrainian army will work out its actions in case of an attack.

— They will have exercises from 10 to 20 February. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are also working, and today we have parallel, mirror exercises. I will name the places where they will take place. These are Rivne, Kovel, Ovruch, Shirokiy Lan, Oleshkovsky Pesky, Chuhuev, Chernihiv, Sumy, and Odesa. And these are only training grounds, and there will be separate sites where from February 10 to February 20 there will be exercises with practicing the use of Bayraktors, Javelins, NLAW (light anti-tank weapons — Zerkalo.io), which we recently received from the UK, Reznikov said.

He added that earlier Ukraine could not even dream of such a number of Javelins as it now has: according to the Minister, now Ukraine “already has more weapons than potential targets”, in addition, new deliveries from the Baltic countries are expected to bring “very interesting” weapons, which the Armed Forces of Ukraine “have long dreamed of”.
