The plant workers are being held hostage by the occupiers.
The Chernobyl nuclear power plant was seized by the occupants in the evening of February 24. Throughout the day, the Russian saboteurs were trying to commit a terrorist attack in the exclusion zone and provoke an ecological disaster.
Lala Tarapakina, adviser to the Minister for the Exclusion Zone in the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, described the situation as of the morning of February 25, reports RBC-Ukraine.
"CHERNOBYL NPP. In fact, the workers of the plant are hostages now. Yet, first and foremost, they are hostages of their professionalism and conscience. This is an object which cannot be left no matter what happens," she said.
Tarapakina also added that now the situation at the Chernobyl NPP is calm and the station is working.
"The station is working. All is quiet. The workers have had breakfast and gone to their workplaces. Our colleagues and friends at the plant ask us not to panic and not to call them every minute. Everyone is alive and well," the adviser added.
