Vileika Resident Jailed For 10 Days For White-Red-White-Flag On His Avatar

On January 26, a resident of Vileika was convicted for an avatar in Viber with the WRW flag, reports Viasna. His actions were qualified as unsanctioned picketing and he was arrested for 10 days.

The man was detained in late January. The reason was his messages in groups on Viber. The Vileika resident wrote comments from his account, where there was a photo with a WRW flag on his avatar. The local police department considered it as "picketing" and drew a report against the man under Article 24.23 of the Administrative Code.

At the trial the Vileika resident said the photo was his public protest against the incumbent authorities and fully admitted his guilt. The court arrested him for 10 days.
