The perpetrators will not escape responsibility in a free Belarus.
The criminal investigation into the death of Raman Bandarenka has been suspended. This is reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.
The report says that the case is suspended on the basis of paragraph 1 of part 1 of article 246 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Belarus in connection with the unidentification of a person to be brought as a defendant.
"In accordance with paragraph 1 of Part 2 of Art. 247 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Belarus, after the suspension of the case, measures to determine the person to be brought as the accused are taken," said the press service.
The information about the suspended case appeared the day before. However, no one has officially commented on it.
We remind that the tragedy happened in November 2020. Raman Bandarenka went out into the courtyard, where Lukashenka's press secretary Natallia Eismant, head of the Belarus Ice Hockey Federation Dzmitry Baskau and athlete Dzmitry Shakuta were cutting off the white-red-white ribbons.
There was a conflict, the police came, and Raman was taken to the Tsentralny District Police Department. From there he was taken to the intensive care unit of the emergency hospital. Despite the efforts of doctors, they could not save the patient. Thousands of Minsk citizens came to Bandarenka's funeral.
The first statements of the authorities were that Raman was drunk. This statement was quickly disproved with the help of medical documents. TutBy journalist Katsiaryna Barysevich and doctor Artsiom Sarokin were tried for this.
At first, the Investigative Committee was responsible for the investigation. But soon, on Lukashenka's order, the case was transferred to the General Prosecutor's Office.
Lukashenka stated that he was taking the investigation under his personal control. We can see how it turned out - the case is suspended.
The same way law-enforcers have been "investigating" the disappearance of Lukashenka's political opponents - Zakharanka, Hanchar and Krasouski - for more than 20 years.
Former security officials who spoke out against the torture and beating of protesters, released recordings of conversations between Lukashenka's press secretary Natallia Eismant and hockey functionary Dzmitry Baskau.
It follows from the audio that both of them were present at the "Square of Changes" that evening. This was one of the reasons why the International Ice Hockey Federation imposed restrictions against Baskau.
It was also alleged that Dzmitry Shakuta, an athlete close to the security forces, was present at the "Square of Changes".
According to Part 3 of Article 147 of the Criminal Code, the term of criminal responsibility is 15 years. This is an especially grave crime, for which a punishment from 5 to 15 years of imprisonment is provided.
