Lithuanian Foreign Ministry responded to the 12 Belarusian law enforcers who had breached the border.
After twelve Belarusian border guards illegally crossed the Lithuanian border, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania (MFA) handed over a note to Minsk, said Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis on Wednesday, reports delfi.lt.
"We have informed Belarus that the incident is registered. It causes deep concern, as we consider it another provocation, escalating an already tense situation. We urge to refrain from incidents that could even be regarded as a provocation, not to mention the real ones," said Landsbergis.
He noted NATO and EU partners were also informed about the incident.
The minister notes that Minsk's reactions to Lithuania's warnings have become "a little tranquil."
"These reactions are a little bit calmer now; we only observe other talks on the media. But we still keep the government officially informed as well," added G. Landsbergis.
