Mother of Juvenile Political Prisoner Shaved Her Head in Solidarity with Her Son

Vitaly Prokhorov was sentenced to two years in a juvenile correctional facility.

Mother of political prisoner Vitaly Prokhorov from Zhlobin shaved her head in solidarity with her son, according to Homel human rights activists.

Prokhorov was detained during the protests on August 10 and badly beaten, as Vitaly said in court. Then he was released. Later was summoned to court and fined for participation in an unsanctioned event. The reason for the criminal case was a video on social media, which was filmed by a friend of the teenager.

As a result, the teenager was sentenced to two years in a juvenile correctional facility. He celebrated his adulthood in custody.

"And not because it's his choice and he's a bad child, but because someone made that choice for him," says the teen's mother before she starts shaving off her hair.

Human rights activists have recognized Vitaly Prokhorov as a political prisoner.
