IndustriAll Global Union stands ready to make a fundamental decision.
The international trade union of workers IndustriAll is ready to exclude Belkhimprofsoyuz from its ranks, Salidarnasts reports.
- IndustriAll is ready to help financially strike committees and independent trade unions in Belarus, as well as to exclude Belkhimprofsoyuz. Also, the organizations will put pressure on the management of Belarusian enterprises, where the rights of workers are infringed upon, the newspaper reports.
The Belarusian trade union of workers in the chemical, mining, and oil industries (Belkhimprofsoyuz) is a member organization of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus.
It received transit status in 1993 and became a full member of the International Federation of Trade Unions of the Chemical, Mining, Energy, and General Workers in 1996.
In 2012, through the merger of three global unions: the International Federation of Chemicals, Mines, Energy, and Other Industries (ICEM), the International Metalworkers Federation, and the International Textile Federation, the new IndustriALL Global Union was formed, bringing together 350 industry unions.
IndustriALL currently represents over 50 million workers in the mining, energy, and processing industries in 140 countries worldwide and is fighting to improve working conditions and respect for trade union rights around the world.
Let us remind you that unprecedented pressure is being exerted on members of independent trade unions in Belarus. The administrations of enterprises threaten members of independent trade unions with dismissal and fire the initiators of the creation of the independent trade union movement.
Despite repressions and criminal cases, the strike movement continues to grow. The strike committees of different enterprises unite, and the workers continue to go on strike.
Another 9 people joined the strike in February.
In March, Vadzim Kulevich, a concrete worker at Hrodna Azot, was one of the last to join the strike on Tuesday morning.
“I don’t intend to put up with the arbitrariness and lawlessness taking place in the country,” the worker explained the reason for joining the National Strike.
