Political Analyst: Putin Looks Down Upon Lukashenka. It Hurts the Latter

Moscow is growing discontent with the behaviour of its "ally".

The Kremlin shows Moscow's dissatisfaction with all these signed packages, all these forms of cooperation, which Lukashenka imitates. Besides, both the Kremlin and the West clearly understand that the "referendum" announced by Lukashenka is a "flagrant deceit," says political analyst Alexander Morozov.

Putin looks down upon Lukashenka and has no intention at all to sign off on this "referendum". It hurts the latter.

All this is taking place amid a migrant crisis. European countries have a good reason to believe that it is Putin's area of responsibility. And he could have influenced it, but he does not. And Lukashenka keeps blackmailing the West.

"Meanwhile, the Kremlin is in some negotiations with Biden, waiting for positive changes in Russian-American relations. Against this background, it will already be disagreeable for the Kremlin to fall under additional sanctions related to Belarus because of the conflict, which brings bonuses only to Lukashenka and no one else," concludes the political scientist.
