Kremlin May Betray Lukashenka

The critical moment for his regime is coming.
By the second week of November, Aliaksandr Lukashenko needs to at least achieve the appearance of peace in Minsk, otherwise "the Kremlin will betray him as an expensive one in maintenance".
This was stated by journalist and political observer Ivan Yakovina on the air of the Ukraine 24 channel. He believes that Moscow may stop funding him if the protests continue.
"By the second week of November, Lukashenka must ensure at least the appearance of peace in Minsk. In that case, he can count on continued funding from Moscow. At the meeting in Sochi Putin made it clear to Lukashenka that if he can't get the country under his control in two months, the Kremlin will betray him away as an expensive in maintenance, but absolutely unnecessary gaulleiter with zero legitimacy among the local population," - he said.
According to Yakovina, there may appear a new leader in Belarus by New Year.
"Lukashenka himself understands all this. He also understands that if Moscow refuses to support his regime officially on November 7, he will immediately fall; he simply has no chance to stay afloat without financial, diplomatic and political assistance from Russia... There comes a moment when his regime is in mortal danger. And if the riot police refuse to shoot at the crowd, there will be a new leader in Belarus by New Year's Eve. Lukashenka is now in despair and in panic, rushing from Putin to political prisoners, trying to find at least someone's support ... This is the moment when the Belarusians themselves have attacked the frightened and demoralized regime," - Ivan Yakovina said.
