The head of the official Belarusian delegation to the Eastern Partnership Summit in Warsaw remains unknown.
A representative of the Polish embassy in Belarus sent an invitation to the Belarusian foreign minister last week, Radio Racyja reports.
The first secretary of the Polish embassy in Minsk, Pawel Marczuk, says:
“We have not received an official response to the invitation by Ms Ashton and minister Sikorski. There are no restrictions here. Minsiter Martynau has a diplomatic passport, so he will be on time in Warsaw if he takes a decision on September 28.”
Andrei Savinykh, the Belarusian MFA press secretary, notes:
“I cannot say anything particular. The invitation is under consideration. Make analysis to determine what it means. As you want – define what it means in Belarusian or translate it into Swahili. I can only say that the issue is under consideration.”
“Guess yourself what it means in politics,” Andrei Savinykh added.
The Eastern Partnership Summit is held in Warsaw on September 29-30. 27 representatives of the EU states and EaP programme participants are expected to take part in the event in Poland, the country which holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union.
