A human rights activist from Brest was arrested by people in mufti for handing round leaflets “This mustn’t occur again”.
Raman Kislyak, an activist of the For Freedom movement, was detained in Gogol Street after he had ended handing round leaflets “This mustn’t occur again” near Belarus movie theatre, BelaPAN news agency reports.
The leaflets were A5 sheets of paper with the above mentioned text and a mourning ribbon. The human rights activists handed round the leaflets and told people about disappeared famous Belarusians, Yury Zakharanka, Viktar Hanchar, Anatol Krasouski, and Zmitser Zavadski. He also told that the country should sign the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance.
It took Kislyak 30 minutes to distribute all 50 copies of leaflets in Savetskaya Street. Two men in mufti detained him in Gogol Street nearby. The activist was guarded to the Leninski district militia department of Brest.
“I spent an hour there. I wrote explanations what, where and for what purpose I had been handed round. Then I was released,” the human rights activists said.
