Underground car park collapse in Moscow: All victims are Belarusians (Video)

The collapse of a multi-story car park near the Paveletskaya Station in the centre of Moscow took place on Thursday morning.

Some 600 sq m of the car park collapsed. Emergencies officials say 4 victims have been rescued, and work for clearing away rubbles continues, NEWSru.com informs.

As noted by Interfax, all the four are citizens of Belarus.

“The fourth victim has a fracture to an ankle, and first aid rendered to him,” spokesperson for Moscow emergencies department Yevgeny Bobylev said.

“At the moment investigators work at the site alongside with rescuers and doctors,” Bobylev said.

As a medical source informed, earlier three victims were hospitalized. Two on them had spinal fractures, bone fractures and closed craniocerebral injuries, the source said.

As said by the source, the two wounded have grave condition, while the third has moderately grave condition.

Three men have been admitted to Sklifosovsky research institute, 1st Hospital and 7th city clinical hospital.

All the wounded are workers from Belarus. After they were hospitalized, two more Belarusian workers were found under the rubble.

“Two workers were found under the car park. They are alive, we keep contact by the phone,” a worker of a construction firm told, RIA Novosti informs.

The multi-story car park is part of a business centre which is being built at the territory of Moscow furniture plant, Kozhevnicheskaya street, 8/4.

Building owner is “Otkrytie-Nedvizhmost”, general constructor is Strabag, an Austrian firm. The collapsed car park was intended for 935 cars. It had 11 storeys, 2 of them underground ones.
