Zyanon Lomats, the head of the State Control Committee, had a conference call in Homel yesterday.
Questions that dwellers of the region wanted to ask touched upon housing utilities unsatisfactory functioning, delay of payment and child allowances, dismissals.
A man from the town of Rechytsa asked why such items as “car washing” and “water for dogs” were included in his utility bills. For example, the public utilities provided for five litres of water per day for watering dogs. Lomats gave an order to appropriate governmental bodies to solve the situation.
A dweller of the Charnihau district complained the farm head doesn’t fulfil his obligations – he didn’t provide people with grain, hay, and potato. “The director must fulfil his promises! This is a political issue!” Lomats exclaimed and ordered specialists to look into the situation.
A dweller of Homel said the city executive committee doesn’t register his firm dealing with pasting show bills on billboards. “The executive committee is right! There’s enough one market entity. This is ideology! This business is political, you know! There are plenty of billboards in Minsk, but we don’t receive money. We will disperse this gang that runs easy business! Why do we need to allow private business into advertising? They can place anything they want at night!” Lomats said.
Some persons reported about facts of corruption among enterprises directors during the telephone conference. But journalists were not able to know further details, as the public address system was turned off during such messages. Lomats explained it had been done for confidentiality of data and the need to check the information. There were four or five such reports out of 35 calls.
According to the State Control Committee head, the aim of such conferences was to analyze the situation in the region and get the latest information. “We encourage people for some questions, it is very important for us to know the situation, moral and psychological condition, and problems in regions,” Lomats concluded.
