Members of “parliament” believe they are to be invited to PACE “without any strings”

In particular, it has been stated by the chairman of the “council of republic” of the “national assembly” of Belarus Barys Batura.

“PACE session will take place in November. They will adopt a decision. We have expressed our vision. We expect the Special Guest status at the PACE to be granted to Belarus without any additional conditions,” Batura is quoted by “Interfax”.

As it has been informed earlier, on the decision of the PACE the Special Guest status for Belarus could be returned in case Belarus would made certain steps declaring a moratorium on executions, and would start democratic reforms. Political prisoners should be released, repressions against the opposition stopped, freedom of expression, of association guaranteed, free and democratic elections should be held in the country.
